GambleAware launched a tender for a £1 million residential rehabilitation programme, a pilot project aimed at people experiencing gambling-related harms. The invitation has now been released and will close in mid-July.
The project by GambleAware is being launched in order to address gaps in existing treatments and research, extending the services to unrepresented groups.
The charity has announced that is now seeking applications to fund residential rehabilitation for anyone experiencing gambling issues. This will also include compounding factors like alcohol and substance abuse, over a period of three years.

GambleAware claims that there are issues with existing treatment programmes, particularly when it comes to the attention paid to mental health issues. They said that annual statistics and gap analysis both showed evidence that there is room for improvement.
Potential applicants must be able to demonstrate experience in the treatment of gambling-related harms and its co-occurring health needs, the charity said.
On 18 June, GambleAware will hold engagement events for prospective bidders, announcing 16 July as the closing date for tender submissions.
Last month, the charity launched a line of interactive maps which identified areas in Great Britain with high numbers of players seeking some kind of gambling treatment, proving that treatment services in those areas are insufficient.

Finally, a study backed by the charity last month revealed that online gambling harm surveys were at risk of selection bias and might result in an unjustifiable increase in the number of people experiencing gambling-related harms.
